Early career

Doug Brunt worked as a management consultant for Booz Allen & Hamilton and as a director with idealab!, a business incubator and venture capital firm. In 2001 he joined Authentium, Inc., a private security firm, where he served as president and CEO until 2011 when he sold the firm to Commtouch (NASDAQ: CTCH).[2]

Brunt was a member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) Metro New York Chapter from 2008 to 2011 when he left upon selling his company to focus on writing full-time.

Writing career

His first novel, Ghosts of Manhattan, was well received by critics:

“Former Internet exec Brunt offers up a savage, jaded, and comical depiction of freewheeling Wall Street bond traders during their precollapse heyday in this engaging debut." - Publishers Weekly[3]

“With his noir-ish debut novel, Brunt delves not just into the mechanics of the financial crash, but also the mindset that created the explosive state of affairs…. A smart shot at the absurdity of Wall Street and the long fall that brought us all down.” –Kirkus[4]

“While this is very much a story about greed and moral decay, Mr. Brunt does a good job of making it as much about relationships. To my surprise, I end up rooting for Nick; I want to see him succeed in saving his marriage. I want to see him emerge from the black morass he seems so stuck in.” –Pittsburgh Post-Gazette[5]

Personal life

On March 1, 2008, in Huntington, New York, Brunt married Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, a graduate from Albany Law School and former associate in the Chicago office of law firm Bickel & Brewer LLP.[6] They have three children: son Edward Yates, born on September 25, 2009; daughter Yardley Evans, born on April 14, 2011; and son Thatcher Bray, born on July 23, 2013.
