Gautam Budh Nagar is a largely suburban district of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India.[2] It is part of the National Capital Region (India). Greater Noida is the district administrative headquarters. The district is one of the fastest growing parts of India, registering 51.52% growth in the preceding decade, according to the census of 2011.[3] The district was named after Gautam Buddha hence it is invariably spelled as Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Location
District Gautam Budhh Nagar is situated in the west of Uttar Pradesh. The district has area between the two main rivers of India namely Ganga and Yamuna.he Yamuna River separates Gautam Budh Nagar from Delhi and Faridabad District. Gautam Budh Nagar is bounded by Delhi and Ghaziabad to the north and south, and Khair Tehsil to the east. In the North of the district Ghaziabad and borders of Delhi,in the south Aligarh, In the east Bulandshahar, in the west Border of Haryana State are located.
Demographics
According to the 2011 census, Gautam Budh Nagar has a population of 1,674,714.[4] It is ranked 294th out of a total of 640 Indian districts in terms of population.[4] Gautam Budh Nagar has a population density of 1,161 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,010/sq mi).[4] Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 39.32%.[4] Gautam Budh Nagar has a sex ratio of 852 females for every 1,000 males,[4] and a literacy rate of 82.2%.
Due to its close proximity to Delhi, the population is highly literate with 82.2% of population in the district are literate compared to 74.04% national average.[4] The female lieracy stands at 72.78% much higher than national average of 65.46%.[3]
Infrastructure
Gautam Budh Nagar is included in the proposed Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.[5] The Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and another Yamuna Expressway passes through this district. Industrialisation is taking place in other areas of the district also.So, in terms of economical structure the district is important not just at state level but also at national level. 25% of the total revenue of Uttar Pradesh is received from Gautam Buddh Nagar.[citation needed] Noida & Greater Noida are industrial hubs of the district.
District Administration
District Administration is headed by District Magistrate who is an IAS officer and briefs Divisional Commissioner of Meerut division on all matters of district whenever required. He is in charge of property records and revenue collection for the State and Central Government, and oversee the all elections held in the city. He is also responsible for maintaining law and order in the city. He is assisted by one Chief Developement Officer,three Additional District Magistrates (Executive,Finance/Revenue and Land Acquisition),One City Magistrate.The district is divided into three Tehsils named as Sadar, Daadri & Jewar each headed by a Sub-Divisional Magistrate who also report to district magistrate.District has 3 development authorities:-Noida,Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities which are headed by Chairman and each authority has its own Chief Executive Officer who too are IAS officers. Police Administration is headed by Senior Superintendent of Police who is an IPS officer and is accountable to District Magistrate for Law and Order enforcement, He is assisted by four Superintendents of Police (City,Rural,Traffic and Crime) and eight Deputy Superintendents of Police.Its current District Magistrate is Shri Nagendra Prasad Singh.
