George Riebel Blue, Sr. (December 10, 1916 – December 1986), was a New Orleans attorney who served from 1964 to 1972 a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from Jefferson Parish in the New Orleans suburbs.

Earlier, in 1956, Blue was a Republican nominee for the United States House of Representatives from the Orleans Parish-based Louisiana's 2nd congressional district. Blue failed in his GOP challenge to Democratic Congressman Hale Boggs In the Second District, Boggs defeated Blue, 69,715 (64.5 percent) to 38,344 (35.5 percent).[1] As a Republican candidate, Blue fared better against Boggs than had the party's 1960 choice, Elliot Ross Buckley, a cousin of magazine publisher William F. Buckley, Jr., who had received only 22 percent of the vote.

Blue later switched to the Democratic Party. He was then twice elected to an at-large seat in the Louisiana House from Jefferson Parish in 1964 and 1968. His legislative tenure hence paralleled the gubernatorial administration of Democrat John McKeithen.[2]

Blue was born in Houston, Texas. His son, George R. Blue, Jr. (born November 11, 1949), a Republican,[3] is a New Orleans lawyer who specializes in personal injury and wrongful termination.
