Gower College Swansea (Welsh: Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe) is the name of the further education college in Swansea, Wales, which was formed on 20 August 2010 from the merger of Gorseinon College and Swansea College Mark Jones, previously Principal of Bridgend College, became Principal in July 2013

Providing further education and other training courses to the Swansea area, the college is lucky enough to have a number of different campuses and venues at different locations in the area, all offering their unique facilities and environment for learning:

Exam Results

In 2015, Gower College Swansea students celebrated an overall 98% pass rate at A Level - above the Welsh national average. Of these passes, 81% were at the higher grades of A*-C and 57% were at grades A*-B, both increases on the results of 2014. International A Level students celebrated an overall 100% pass rate, with 67% achieving A*- A grades.

Governance

Known as the Corporation Board, it comprises 20 governors with a wide range of expertise and experience who wish to contribute to the local community. Accountable for the financial solvency of the college, its sound management and the quality of the service that it provides, the Board is also accountable for the proper use of the public funds entrusted to it.

Sports academies

Selected full-time students have the opportunity to join one of the college’s well-established Sports Academies. Membership of an academy enables students to follow their chosen programme of study whilst developing their sporting skills ranging from football, rugby, netball, hockey and new for 2012 - the Surf Academy.

The college charity

The Kenya Community Education Project was set up in 2003 and is largely run by students of the College. This project aims to raise money to maintain a feeding programme for over 120 of the poorest pupils at Madungu Primary. In addition, it aims to pay the salaries of two teachers and supply them with a variety of educational materials. The college holds an annual Kenya Project Day but fund raising continues throughout the year.

Students also take place in the annual Cannock Chase Walk to raise funds as well as various events throughout the year. For example, a Walrus Dip.

The members also get a chance to go to the school every other year.
