Hanna Lewis

Hanna Ballin Lewis is the editor and English language translator of two of best-selling German writer Fanny Lewald's most well-known books, Erinnerungen aus dem Jahre 1848, published as "Recollections of 1848",[1] and an abridged version of Lewald's autobiography Meine Lebensgeschichte, abridged and published as The Education of Fanny Lewald".[2]

Hanna Ballin Lewis has written extensively on Fanny Lewald and is a retired Professor of German in the Department of Foreign Languages at Sam Houston State University. She was born in Berlin, Germany in 1931 and immigrated to Philadelphia, USA as a child. She earned her undergraduate, Master's and PhD degrees from Rice University in Houston, Texas, USA, where she presently resides, monitoring the progress of her four children, seven grandchildren, and her beloved husband of 62 years, Dr. Bernard Lewis.[citation needed]
