Henrik Palmgren is a Swedish political podcaster, vlogger, YouTube personality, and owner of the Swedish website and news aggregator, Red Ice,[1][2] founded in 2003. He is the host of the podcast and video program Red Ice Radio, while his wife and partner, Lana Lokteff, hosts Radio 3Fourteen. Palmgren's program frequently hosts a wide variety of content, including politics, culture and spirituality. Originally focusing on paranormal subjects, it has recently changed focus, focusing on the political and cultural interests of white populations and hosting numerous prominent figures with similar concerns. He describes his views as "pro-European", traditionalist, and, as described most recently in an interview with Hotep Jesus, supportive of ethno-nationalism.[3]
In May 2017, The Forward reported that Palmgren was collaborating with white nationalist Richard B. Spencer to forge a new media company.[4]
Henrik Palmgren attended the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, intending to livestream the events, although he was unable to do so due to a major hack of Red Ice servers.[5][6][7]
Deplatforming
On 17 October 2019 YouTube deleted Red Ice's channel, which had over 300,000 subscribers at the time. YouTube provided no notice to Red Ice of the decision.[8][9]
On 26 November 2019 the Facebook page for Red Ice was removed, along with the personal accounts for both Palmgren and Lokteff and the page for Lokteff's clothing company, Lana's Lamas. The Red Ice page had approximately 100,000 followers at the time. Palmgren attributes the ban to a piece published on 21 November in The Guardian by Julia Carrie Wong, who called the couple white nationalists and advocated that they be banned along with several others.[8][10] According to Wong, Facebook considers the couple to be violating a policy against "organized hate."[11] Palmgren rejects that charge that either their personal feelings or their content is hateful.[8]
Personal life
Originally from Kungälv, Palmgren has lived in Oregon for many years.[5] He is married to his co-host Lana Lokteff. His brother, Fredrik Palmgren, also assists in productions, with the two working together in music before founding Red Ice.
