The Idaho Youth Ranch (IYR) is a non-profit, multi-service charity in Idaho, USA which provides "troubled children and families a bridge to a valued, responsible, and productive future” (excerpted from the IYR Mission Statement).

IYR began in 1953 by the Reverend James and Ruby Carey Crowe. The vision was to be an alternative to incarceration, institutionalization and hospitalization of children. What began as a working ranch located outside of Rupert, Idaho has grown to providing a range of services across the state.

IYR programs include adoptions, alternative education, foster care recruitment and training, vocational training, family counseling, case management, aftercare, independent living services, crisis shelter, community-based group homes and a therapeutic residential program (500 acres, the “Ranch”). IYR also owns and operates numerous thrift stores throughout Idaho that serve as a source of revenue as well as an additional resource for families and an employment opportunity for youth in IYR's programs.

Because of IYR's donors, thrift store shoppers, grants and foundations, IYR offers help to children and families based on what they can afford. IYR also provides its graduates and clients with support after formal services have ended. These include college and vocational scholarships, financial assistance, and help from counselors.

IYR is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Each year, IYR publishes an annual report which includes information on the financial condition of the agency and measures of program effectiveness. A copy of the annual report, and detailed information about the Idaho Youth Ranch can be found on the web site: www.youthranch.org
