The Italy national handball team is the national handball team of Italy. It only had 1 appearance in World championship 1997, and the next year hosted the European Championship (in both times coache by Lino Červar). It had poor result in both competitions. It never qualified for the Olympic Games.

However, the handball is popular in Italian zones where it is played.

Best results

  • 1979.: Silver medal on Mediterranean Games.
  • 1991.: Bronze medal on Mediterranean Games.
  • 1997.: Victory on the qualification for the World Championships in Japan, only appearance of Italy on World Championships (ending 18th).
  • 1997.: Silver medal on Mediterranean Games.
  • 1998.: Only appearance on European Championships; 11th place.

Lino Červar was the coach on these last three competitions.
