Khalid Siddiqui (Urdu: خالد صدیقی‎) is an Indian film and television actor.[4] Mostly notable for his role in Ghajini[3] Siddiqui has worked in a number of television shows and Bollywood films.

Career

Before entering in the industry, Siddiqui had worked in a number of television commercials for brands including ICICI Bank, Bombay Dyeing, Cadbury Perk, Suzuki Alto and Gillette.[5] Siddiqui made his debut in a music video which was directed by Subhash Ghai. His screen appearance in the video gained him a 30-second cameo role in the film Joggers' Park (2003).[2] Actor Victor Banerjee was impressed by his acting skills and offered him to play lead role in the film Ho Sakta Hai (2006) directed by Wilson Louis.[lower-alpha 2] Critic Taran Adarsh praised Siddiqui's performance in the film.[7] Siddiqui played other roles in films such as Apaharan (2005), The Film (2005), Ghajini (2008) and Riwayat (2012) being his last film appearance.

Siddiqui moved from films to television with the show Zindagi Badal Sakta Hai Hadsaa (2008).[8] Further, he played the role of Manav in the soap opera Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha (2012) where his character had a commercial angle between Megha (Aakanksha Singh) and Mohan (Kunal Karan Kapoor).[9] In the same year he played the roles of Tauseef Baig in the drama Tum Saath Ho Jab Apne (2014) where his character, being dead is seen in flashbacks,[5] a superhero and his alter-ego journalist in Maharakshak: Aryan (2014)[5] and as a mythological king in The Adventures of Hatim (2014).[10][11]

Personal life

Siddiqui was married to Raahat and the couple had a son and a daughter. In September 2015, Siddiqui was arrested on the charges of sexual harassment and an attempted homicide on his wife from his residence after an argument.[12] The couple got separated in 2013 and reportedly the actor was living with his partner at Bandra suburbs. Raahat also said that her husband did not support her and children financially.[12] Siddiqui was granted bail in October 2015 by the Bandra court and according to Siddiqui's lawyer, he said that it was a dispute between the couple and no serious charges were implied.[13] It was rumored that Siddiqui is in a relationship with actress Nikita Dutta, but the actress denied the news, stating that she is not in relationship with the former.[14]
