Like all elected local officials, governors can only serve for three consecutive terms before having to skip a fourth term in order to be eligible again.
Current incumbents
These are the list of incumbent governors of the Philippines who were elected on May 13, 2013, and took oath of office on June 30, 2013. All of their terms will expire on June 30, 2016.
Changes from 2013
- Laguna:
- Incumbent E.R. Ejercito (UNA) was disqualified by the Commission on Elections for overspending during the elections. The Supreme Court had concurred with the commission, thereby removing Ejercito from office on May 27, 2014. He was replaced his vice governor, Ramil Hernandez (Nacionalista) for the rest of his term on May 30, 2014.
- Sorsogon:
- Incumbent Raul Lee (UNA) was suspended by the Sandiganbayan for 90 days on February 2014 after his alleged involvement of graft. He then placed himself on preventive suspension for 60 days on June 1, 2014, when he was replaced by Vice Governor Antonio Escudero, Jr. (NPC) in an acting capacity. Lee re-assumed office after his suspension lapsed.
- Antique:
- Incumbent Exequiel Javier (LP) was disqualified by the Commission on Elections after suspending a town mayor within the election period. He was replaced by his vice governor Rhodora Cadiao on January 29, 2015.
- Masbate:
- Incumbent Rizalina Seachon-Lanete was surrended for plunder in the Napoles pork barrel scam on February 20, 2015. She was replaced by his vice governor Vicente Homer B. Revil.
