The Long Beach Island Consolidated School District is a regional consolidated public school district which serves students in Kindergarten through sixth grade from five communities bordering the Atlantic Ocean on Long Beach Island, in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. Communities served by the district are Barnegat Light, Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Township, Ship Bottom and Surf City.[3][4]

As of the 2011-12 school year, the district's two schools had an enrollment of 238 students and 26.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.85:1.[1]

The district's Board of education consists of a total of nine members from the constituent municipalities.[5]

The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "FG", the fourth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.[6]

Students in public school for seventh through twelfth grades attend the Southern Regional School District, which serves the five municipalities in the Long Beach Island Consolidated School District, along with students from Beach Haven and Stafford Township, as well as students from Ocean Township (including its Waretown section) who attend as part of a sending/receiving relationship.[3][7] (with 2011-12 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics[8]) are Southern Regional Middle School[9] (grades 7 and 8; 981 students) and Southern Regional High School[10] (grades 9 – 12; 2,077 students).[11] Both schools are in the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township.
