Ludovico Luigi Ugolini (3 March 1777 – 16 November 1850) was an Italian prelate, who became Bishop of Fossombrone.

Biography

Luigi Ugolini was born in Monte Colombo. After priestly ordination on March 21, 1801, he was appointed Titular archbishop of Amorium by Pope Pius VII and consecrated by Cardinal Lorenzo Litta on August 24, 1819. At the same time he was appointed apostolic administrator of Ripatransone. He administered the diocese in substitution of Ignazio Ranaldi, promoted archbishop of Urbino. During the period of sede vacante he had the seminary moved to the convent of the Poor Clare nuns, dividing its income between the Oratorian monks and the Conventual Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus, which became renowned for the personalities who attended it in a rather flourishing period.[1]

On May 24, 1824 he was appointed bishop of Fossombrone. In 1839, inspired by the archbishop of Naples Filippo Giudice Caracciolo, he created an ecclesiastical academy where the clergy discussed and studied philosophical and theological ideas with special dissertations. He announced its creation in a pastoral letter on December 10.[2]

Luigi Ugolini died on November 16, 1850.
