Mahmoud El-Ali (Arabic pronunciation محمود العلي) born on March 4, 1984 is a Lebanese footballer who last played for Persiba Balikpapan in the Indonesia Super League.[1] He is representing the Lebanon national football team at the international level as a striker in the scorer position. On February 26, 2013 Mahmoud was accused of illegal betting on several national and continental games concerning Lebanese teams and the national team. He was banned for life and fined $ 15,000.[2]

Career

Mahmoud joined Al Ahed in the 2005/06 season coming from his former club Al-Rayyan.

El-Ali usually wears the number 17 shirt while representing the national football. He made six appearances in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying rounds and scored seven goals for the national team. His last goal was against the United Arab Emirates national football team in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
He has a life ban for match fixing scandals.
