Manava was the son and successor to the king of Gauda, Shashanka. He was the last recorded ruler of the dynasty and was likely deposed by Harshavardhana (Emperor of Northern India) or Bhaskaravarman (King of Kamarupa). He ruled as king for 8 months. As per Sharadindu Bandhyopadhyay's Novel 'Gour Mallar' ManabDeb(King Manava) had his son. His name was 'Bajra Dev' ( Bajra). Flew from the battlefield ( Battling with Harshabardhan), he went to 'Betasgram' ( a Village of Gauda). There he met with 'Rangana'. Who saved his life. Later he married Rangana and went to 'Karna Subarna' to save the capital. He failed to keep Bhaskaravarman away from acquiring Gauda. Bajra Dev was the king of Gauda for only 1 day.
