Matthew Peter Burke (born 15 September 1964[1] in Darlinghurst, Sydney) is an Australian rugby union and rugby league footballer who was active in the 1980s and 90s. After playing for Australia in union, he joined the NSWRL Premiership and played for Sydney clubs Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Eastern Suburbs Roosters and Balmain Tigers.

Son of rugby league international Peter Burke, Matthew attended Waverley College. He made his debut for the Wallabies in 1984 against England at Twickenham. Playing on the wing, he won 23 Test caps and scored 15 tries, including five in the 1987 Rugby World Cup.

(R)- Replacement

Burke signed with his father's old club, Manly-Warringah for the 1988 NSWRL season.[2] After a promising first two seasons at the Sea Eagles, Burke's professional career stalled upon moving to Easts and then Balmain, getting relegated to lower grade football.[3]
