Melanie "Mel" McLaughlin is an Australian sport presenter for the Seven Network. McLaughlin previously worked for Fox Sports where she hosted multiple football (soccer) shows including Kick Off, Indian Super League and Fox Sports FC, while also being a regular on Fox Sports News.[2][3]

Career

In 2013 she joined Network Ten to host match day coverage of the Big Bash League[4] and in 2014 was involved in their coverage of the 2014 Glasgow Games,[5] 2014 Winter Olympics .[1]

In January 2016, McLaughlin was the centre of a controversy when cricketer Chris Gayle made inappropriate comments to her during a live interview.[6][7][8][9] He was sanctioned with a A$10,000 fine for inappropriate conduct.[10]

In February 2016, McLaughlin announced that she would defect to the Seven Network where she is expected to cover the 2016 Summer Olympics.[11]

In March 2016, the Seven Network announced that McLaughlin would replace Jim Wilson on Seven News Sydney.[12]

Personal life

McLaughlin was formerly married to musician Luke Panic; however, the marriage ended in divorce after two years.[13]
