Michael Seth Brockers (born December 21, 1990) is an American football defensive tackle for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at LSU. He was considered, by many, to be the best defensive tackle prospect in the 2012 NFL Draft.[1] He was drafted in the first round, 14th overall by the St. Louis Rams in 2012.[2]

Early years

Brockers attended Chávez High School in Houston, Texas, where he played football and competed in track. During his junior season he had 59 tackles and 10 sacks. As a senior, he led Chavez High to the first round of the Texas Class 5A state playoffs, and earned first-team All-region and All-state honors. In track & field, Brockers participated in the shot put and the discus.

Considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, he was rated as the No.10 strongside defensive end prospect in the nation.[3] He accepted a scholarship offer from LSU over other offers from Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

College career

Brockers attended Louisiana State University from 2009 to 2011. After redshirting his initial year at LSU, Brockers saw action in all 13 games of the 2010 season, as backing up Lazarius Levingston at left defensive tackle. He made his first career start against Alabama and picked up four tackles in the win over the Crimson Tide. As a sophomore in 2011, he started all 13 games and was third on the team with 9.5 tackles for a loss. He earned a second team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press.[4]

"Think about the defensive tackles in St. Louis. They've been beat up inside at that position. Their defensive ends are solid, but they need some help inside. Brockers will step in immediately in the inside."
-Mike Mayock, former NFL safety and current NFL Network analyst

2012 season

On December 9 against Buffalo Bills, Brockers had his best game statistically as a professional to date. He ended the game with 7 tackles (4 Solo), 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
