Birth and family
He was born in 1956 in the Matimdiyah area of Imbaba, in the Al Jizah Governorate in Egypt. Yaqcoub is the oldest of four brothers and has one older sister.
Seeking Islamic knowledge
Yacoub memorized the entire Qur'an at an early age, and learned about the study of Hadith. He studied the six canonical books of Sunni Islam with Moroccan scholar Muhammad Abu Khubza, in addition to studying with fellow Egyptian Abd al-Hamid Kishk. He then lived in Saudi Arabia from 1980 to 1985, studying with Saudi clerics Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz and Muhammad ibn al Uthaymeen.
Hate speech against Jews
In a speech delivered by Yaqoub, which aired on Al-Rahma TV on January 17, 2009, he stated (as translated by MEMRI) that:
"We must believe that our fighting with the Jews is eternal, and it will not end until the final battle... You must believe that we will fight, defeat, and annihilate them, until not a single Jew remains on the face of the Earth.... As for you Jews—the curse of Allah upon you. The curse of Allah upon you, whose ancestors were apes and pigs. You Jews have sown hatred in our hearts, and we have bequeathed it to our children and grandchildren. You will not survive as long as a single one of us remains... O Jews, may the curse of Allah be upon you. O Jews... O Allah, bring Your wrath, punishment, and torment down upon them. Allah, we pray that you transform them again, and make the Muslims rejoice again in seeing them as apes and pigs. You pigs of the earth! You pigs of the earth! You kill the Muslims with that cold pig [blood] of yours."[3][4][5][6]
