Nashville is a small unincorporated community in southwestern Barton County, Missouri. It is located one mile west of Route 43 about twelve miles southwest of Lamar. The community was founded by and is named after Ira P. Nash. The Nashville community was the birthplace of twin brothers Horace and Harlow Shapley; Horace went on to become a successful farmer; Harlow became an astronomer of some renown.

Demographics

The population of the Nashville Township as of the census[1] of 2000 was 396. Of those 396, 190(48.0%) were male and 206(52.0%) were female. The racial makeup of the community was 98.5% White, 1.3% Asian and 0.3% two or more races. Population density was 8 people per square mile.[3]
