The Pakistan Scouts Cadet College Batrasi (PSCC) is a boarding institution located in the hills of Mansehra at a distance of 16 km from Mansehra city on the road to Kaghan which is a hill station in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.The college was established in 1996, and is the first institution in the world being run by a scout organization.

History

The college was started as a residential institution in 1996. The buildings initially being used by the college were actually constructed by the Pakistan Scouts Association in coordination with the Government of Pakistan for Bosnian refugees being displaced in the Bosnian War. However, due to certain circumstances the refugees never came. The buildings were then allotted by the Scouts Association to build a school.

Academics

The college is from 7th grade to intermediate levels. It also provides A levels and O levels classes. Each class has 30-40 students, divided into 3 sections. There are well established science laboratories with an audiovisual laboratory as well. There is a state of the art library for reference purposes.

Administration

The administration is run by the Principal who has a vice-principal working under him. The academics are handled by a chief instructor, and the examinations are controlled by a controller of examinations.

Boarding

There are 8 hostels called Houses in the terminology of the College. Their names are:

  • Ravi
  • Mehran
  • Bolan
  • Neelum
  • Kaghan
  • Iqbal (Kargil)
  • Khyber
  • Jinnah (Upper Kaghan)

Each hostel can accommodate about 70 cadets. The houses are run by House Masters who live within the hostels.

Extracurricular activities

The college has a big ground for sports activities, and sports activities including cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, basketball, badminton, rugby, are carried out. There is an annual sports gala held each for the champions trophy which is competed for by all houses.
