Production

In April 2017 it was announced that The Walt Disney Company Italy plans to produce a spin-off series to the successful series Alex & Co. in English language.[3] The start of the shooting for the 17-part first season was planned for autumn 2017. The reason why the series Penny on M.A.R.S. is not produced in Italian but in English is because the series can be sold better internationally. The characters Penny, Camilla, Bakìa and Freddy Wolf from Penny on M.A.R.S. had a performance in the special episodes (the last episodes) of Alex & Co. in which the spin-of series was introduced. On June 29, 2017, the spin-off series after the last episode of Alex & Co. in the form of a Teasers official announced, thereby also the title of the series Penny on M.A.R.S. was announced.[4]

The first table read for the first season was on September 20, 2017.[5] The shooting for the first season began on September 28, 2017 and is expected to end on December 22, 2017.[6] The shooting takes place in Milan and the surrounding area.[7] The backdrop of the Music Arts Reiner School (short M.A.R.S.) is the edifice of the design department of the Bavisa's headquarters of the Polytechnic University of Milan.
