Platydoras costatus, the Raphael catfish, is a species of thorny catfish of the genus Platydoras widespread throughout northern South America down to Argentina.[1] Although long thought to be the striped raphael catfish, this is not the case; the striped raphael catfish is actually Platydoras armatulus.[2] This species grows to a length of 24.0 centimetres (9.4 in) SL.[1] This fish is a minor component of local fisheries and is also found in the aquarium trade.[1]
