Mizoram /mᵻˈzɔːrəm/ (Mizo pronunciation: /mɪ.zError using {{IPA symbol}}: "oʊ" not found in list.rʌm/) (from mi 'people', zo 'hill', ram 'country', Land of the Hill People / Mizo people") is one of the Seven Sister States listed as in North Eastern India, sharing borders with the states of Tripura, Assam, Manipur and with the neighboring countries of Bangladesh and Myanmar Burma. Mizoram became the 23rd state of India on 20 February 1987. Its capital is Aizawl. Mizoram is located in the northeast of India. Mizoram is a region in India. Its folk music is based around vocals (singing) accompanied by traditional drums, gong and other native percussion instruments. There is also a long history of flute-playing which is now defunct. The drums are made from a hollow tree trunk with membrane made from cow hide and the gongs, made of brass, are very similar to those found in Myanmar. Jeje Lalpekhlua is an Indian footballer who currently plays for Pune F.C. in the I-League. He is being dubbed as the next Baichung Bhutia[citation needed] and is being dubbed as one of the brightest prospects for Indian football[citation needed]. He scored the only goal in a win against Afghanistan in the SAFF Cup group stage match in Bangladesh. He led the Indian U19 team to South Asian games in Sri Lanka. In the last group stage match he scored a hat trick against Pakistan in a 5-1 win. He also scored four goals in his first three senior appearances for the Indian national football team. He was also an important player in India's 2011 SAFF Cup championship victory.
