Robert Czarnik (born January 10, 1990) is an American professional ice hockey forward. He is currently under contract to the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL. He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 3rd round (63rd overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He is the cousin of Providence Bruins center Austin Czarnik.[1]

Playing career

Prior to turning professional, Czarnik attended the University of Michigan where he played two seasons of NCAA Division I college hockey with the Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team.

On October 12, 2011, the Los Angeles Kings signed Czarnik to a three-year entry level contract.[2]

In the 2013–14 season, his final contract year with the Kings, Czarnik was traded by Los Angeles to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Steve Quailer on February 6, 2014.[3]

On September 25, 2014, without an NHL or AHL contract on offer, Czarnik signed as a free agent to a one-year contract with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL.[4] On January 13, 2015 Indy traded him the Ontario Reign[5] where he played eight games before the Reign traded him to the Gwinnett Gladiators on March 11, 2015.[6] However, he was returned to Ontario after failing a physical in Gwinnett[7] only to be called up on a professional tryout contract (PTO) for the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL on March 17. 2015.[8]

On August 3, 2015, Czarnik joined as a free agent with the Reading Royals of the ECHL on a one-year contract.[9] On March 9, 2016, he was traded to the Norfolk Admirals, the ECHL franchise that had replaced the AHL team he had previously played for in the city when they moved to San Diego, California to become the San Diego Gulls.[10]
