Rovinari (Romanian pronunciation: [roviˈnarʲ]) is a town in Gorj County, southern Romania with a population of 12,603 as of 2002[update]. It is a mining city, nearby to surface and underground mines. A big thermo-electrical power plant functions close to the town.
