SS Duke of Lancaster was a steamer passenger ship operated by the London and North Western Railway from 1895 to 1911.[1]

She was then sold to the Isle of Man Steam Packet company and operated as The Ramsey from 1912 to 1915.

In 1914 she was requisitioned for use as an armed boarding steamer. Commissioned as HMS The Ramsey, she was sunk by gunfire when she challenged a ship which turned out to be the auxiliary cruiser and minelayer SMS Meteor (1903) in the North Sea on 8 August 1915.
