The Schwalm is a river in Hesse, Germany, right tributary of the Eder. It rises on the north side of the Vogelsberg Mountains. It flows north through Alsfeld, Schwalmstadt and Borken. The Schwalm flows into the Eder near Wabern, east of Fritzlar, after a total length of 97 km.
In the 19th century, many Schwalms of German origin moved to the Topeka, Kansas region in the United States. A Schwalm museum is situated in the greater Topeka area today. Members of the Kansas clan moved to the Minneapolis, Minnesota region where the family continues to thrive and prosper today.
