Split Personality is the debut album by rapper Cassidy. It was released on March 16, 2004. It debuted at #2 on the U.S. Billboard 200, with 118,000 copies sold in its first week.[1] The album was certified Gold by the RIAA for shipping over 500,000 copies.[2]

Background

Cassidy recorded the Split Personality album in 2003. The record is divided into three parts. The first part (credited as "Cassidy") reflects his pop side, the second part (credited as "The Problem") is directed to his fans of his mixtapes, and the third (credited to "B. Reese") from fans from his early days.[3]

Cassidy recorded the track and lead single "Hotel", which references the song "Housewife" from Dr. Dre's album 2001, with R. Kelly in Kelly's Chicago studios with a vocal contribution by Kelly and a remix featuring vocals by Trina. The song became a hit, reaching the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2004 and was nominated for a Vibe Award in the category Coolest Collabo that year.[4] The second single, "Get No Better", featured a contribution from labelmate Mashonda but did not do as well on the singles charts, reaching #82 on the Billboard Hot 100. The promotional video features Vida Guerra.

The tracks "Take It" and "Make You Scream Pt.2" didn't make the final cut but were released as promotional singles.[2][3]
