Kim made her debut as member of the South Korean girl group The Grace in 2005. The group officially debuted in April 29, 2005. In 2010, all activities for the group as a whole were halted due to Stephanie sustaining a major back injury and the group breaking Indefinite Hiatus.
Kim was a member of the Los Angeles Ballet. [1][2]
On October 8 of 2012, Stephanie released her first solo single album The New Beginning with the title track "Game" accompanied by a music video. Her single album consists of three tracks, "Game" (title track), "Dance" (a track featuring her labelmate from SM Entertainment, Amber of f(x)) and a remix version of "Game" by DJ Koo. She was rumored to release an independant track in the summer of 2014 under a new company "Mafia Records", but the comeback song - entitled "Prisoner" - was delayed until early August 2015.[3][4] The music video for the follow-up single "Blackout" was released in late September 2015.[5] Stephanie released her first mini-album"Top Secret" with title track "Up, Up" featuring Teen Top's L.joe in October 2015.[6]
On May 2016, Stephanie's contract with SM Entertainment expired. She currently is a solo act under the record label Mafia Records.[7]
