SummerSlam (2016) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and WWE Network event produced by WWE. It will take place on August 21, 2016 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.[1][2] It will be the twenty-ninth event under the SummerSlam chronology and the second consecutive SummerSlam to be hosted in the Barclays Center.

SummerSlam will feature professional wrestling matches involving wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines that play out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers portrayed heroes (faces) or villains (heels) as they followed a series of events that build tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.[3][4]
