Plot
Sakthivel Gounder (Sarath Kumar) is one of the most respected, educated and wealthiest men in his district. While his two elder sons and daughter are all well educated, his last son Chinnarasu (Sarath Kumar) is considered a dunce owing to his poor academic history. In a flashback, it is revealed that Chinnarasu once loved and adored Gowri(Priya Raman) who was his wife to be until she attempted suicide to prevent this union as Chinnarasu was uneducated. Chinnarasu shoulders the entire blame and declares to his father that he is not interested in marrying Gowri and earned his father's wrath.
Nandini (Devayani) arrives for her brother's wedding to Chinnarasu's sister and she is moved by Chinnarasu's history and falls in love with him. Nandini and Chinnarasu marry which enrages both sets of their parents. However with hard work and persistence, Nandini becomes a district collector and Chinnarasu becomes one of the well known businessmen in town. When the enmity of Dharmalingam Gounder (Anand Raj) threatens to create further rift between father and son, they join together to resolve it and the family is happily united.
