Switzerland selected their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 on February 21, 2007, making the decision to have DJ BoBo represent the country, from a total of over sixty entries. The song to represent the country in the semi-final was revealed to be "Vampires Are Alive", with Kimia Scarlett providing the female vocals.
René Baumann, also known as DJ BoBo, is a successful Eurodance musician. René has received numerous golds and platinums for his songs and has found success in Europe (primarily Germany and Switzerland), Israel, and South America. In 2004, as a result of the success of "Chihuahua", René was awarded the Swiss award for Showbusiness at the Swiss awards, an annual event intended to recognise high achieving Swiss people.
Prior to the contest, DJ Bobo travelled to Cyprus to promote the Swiss entry. DJ Bobo participated in the semi-final evening on 10 May in Eurovision, hoping to qualify in the top 10. but to no avail, finishing twentieth overall.
