The Timonium Light Rail Stop is one of 33 stops on the Baltimore Light Rail and is the northern terminus of some trips. The station up until 1997 was the northern terminus, and also was for a few months during the double-tracking project in 2007. Currently, trains originating from Cromwell/Glen Burnie terminate at Timonium during peak commuting hours on weekdays. The stop is located along Deereco Road adjacent to the Maryland State Fairgrounds. Entry to events at the fairgrounds is possible from the location.
The station has 851 spaces for commuters.[1] Prior to the opening of the light rail in 1992, the parking lot was known as the Timonium Park-and-Ride. Express buses ran from the location to downtown Baltimore. Before this, the line was used by the former Northern Central Railway, which contained a station in Timonium.
Currently, the station is served by Bus Route 9, which operates between the Lutherville Light Rail Stop and International Circle near Hunt Valley Town Center. York, Pennsylvania's Rabbit Transit Route 83S Route 83S also provides a connection from this station into South-Central Pennsylvania.
