Tramway Museum Society of Victoria
The Tramway Museum Society of Victoria was founded in 1963 in Victoria, Australia. Its aim is the preservation, restoration and operation of trams. It operates the Tramway Heritage Centre, located at 330 Union Lane, Bylands, Victoria, between Wallan and Kilmore.
The museum houses a large and varied collection of trams from Melbourne, Ballarat, Geelong and Adelaide, as well as preserved buses and other work vehicles. The museum has 1 km (1 mi) of electric track, which was previously a part of the Heathcote Junction to Bendigo railway line, although tram rides are currently suspended.[citation needed]
The Tramway Heritage Centre also has a tramway electric supply substation, two running sheds, an exhibition shed/workshop - that was used as part of the Melbourne International Exhibition of 1880 - various buildings for the storage of unrestored trams, cable tram cars and motor vehicles and a visitor centre.
