Viswanathan Ramamoorthy is an Indian 2001 Tamil language film directed by Rama Narayanan. The film features Ramki, Vivek, Roja, Vindhya and Kovai Sarala in lead roles. The film, produced by N. Radha, had musical score by S. A. Rajkumar and was released on 10 August 2001 received generally unfavorable reviews from critics. The film is a remake of yesteryear classic Veettuku Veedu which itself was based on the English comedy play "Right Bed Wrong Husband".[1][2][3][4]

Plot

Ramamoorthy (Vivek), with dreams of being a movie director, moves to the city with his wife Shenbagam (Vindhya), banking on his rich friend Viswanathan (Ramki) to help him. Turns out, Viswanathan is a hen-pecked husband and his wife Meena (Roja), an aspiring actress. With the intent on laying their hands on 30 lakhs, Shenbagam begins to act as Viswanathan's wife and Meena, in financial trouble of her own, agrees to be part of the drama. But Andal (Kovai Sarala), who sees Ramamoorthy as the man of her dreams, tries to woo him.

The film score and the soundtrack were composed by film composer S. A. Rajkumar. The soundtrack, released in 2001, features tracks with lyrics written by P. Vijay, Snehan and Rama. Narayanan.

Reception

The film received mostly unfavorable reviews. Balaji Balasubramaniam of thiraipadam.com said : "Rama. Narayanan falls short from the original in ever so many ways". Malathi Ragarajan of hindu.com said : "Unfortunately, Rama. Narayanan is unable to use the setup creatively". Both critics asserted that the film is like Crazy Mohan's plays.[3][4]
