WBRN (1460 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk format. Licensed to Big Rapids, Michigan, it first began broadcasting in 1953.
WBRN rebroadcasts on FM translator W299BE at 107.7 MHz in Big Rapids, which makes WBRN the first AM station in Michigan to add an FM translator. The March 2008 addition of W299BE had formerly simulcast sister station WYBR.
WBRN carries a mostly syndicated talk radio format affiliated with the Premiere Networks talk lineup on weekdays (Glenn Beck Radio Program, The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Sean Hannity Show and Coast to Coast AM) and Fox News Radio on weekends.
On February 2, 2015, shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge, whose show originates from Tampa, Florida, announced on his morning show that Beasley Broadcast Group, whose stations carry Bubba's program (including his flagship, which was previously WHFS-FM), is finalizing a deal to buy the rights to the callsign WBRN. As the Big Rapids and Tampa stations broadcast on separate bands, WBRN AM would not necessarily have to give up its calls in order for WHFS-FM to use a WBRN-FM call sign.[1] (For an example, see WPBS.)
