National Express West Midlands Routes 10 and 10A are two bus routes operated in West Midlands, England, also travelling into South Staffordshire.[1]

History

The 392 ran hourly during Monday - Saturday Daytime, the 393 ran every 60 minutes all day every day including Evenings, as did the 394. The 395 ran hourly Monday - Saturday daytime, whilst the 395A ran half hourly. The 396 ran half hourly Monday - Saturday daytime, with irregular evening journeys everyday.

  • 2001 - Travel West Midlands introduce new service 394A operating between Walsall and Burntwood Church. This service follows a very similar route to the then service 394 and replaces Evening and Sunday journeys operated by that service at an hourly frequency. Additionally weekday evening journeys are introduced on the 395 at an hourly frequency.[7]
  • 2005 - Travel West Midlands withdraw service 396 and replace it with new services, 396A and 396C. These services serve the same places as the existing 396 service.[8]

The 394 and 394A ran every 20 minutes Monday - Saturday daytime, whilst the 394B ran hourly on Evenings and Sundays. The 394 also ran hourly on Sunday Evenings only. The 395 ran half hourly Monday - Saturday daytime.

These changes resulted in Norton Canes no longer being served by Travel West Midlands, much to the annoyance of residents.

The 10 runs every 20 minutes during Monday - Saturday daytime and half hourly during Evenings and on Sundays. The 10A runs every 20 minutes during Monday - Saturday daytime only, providing a combined 10-minute frequency between Walsall and Brownhills during this period.

Current

National Express West Midlands (NXWM) operate service 10, between Walsall and Burntwood and the 10A, between Walsall and Brownhills West/Ogley Hay at twenty-minute frequencies, giving a combined frequency of every 10 minutes. The 10 is operated every day of the week, the 10A meanwhile only operates Monday - Saturday.[13]

During evenings and Sundays, National Express West Midlands operate service 10 to a half hourly frequency.

Due to the North Walsall Network Review on 25 April 2010, major changes were made to the corridor once again.

  • 10 - Current service that now follows the route of service 394, but then extending to Burntwood. This now operates every 20 minutes and half hourly during the Evening & on Sundays via Rushall, Shelfield, Walsall Wood, Streets Corner, Catshill, Brownhills, Ogley Hay, Chasetown & Chase Terrace.
  • 10A - Current Service that replaced service 394A. This service travels from Walsall to Brownhills as per service 10, but will then loop around Brownhills West & Ogley Hay prior to returning to Brownhills and returning to Walsall.
  • Services 394, 394A, 394B and 395 have since been withdrawn
