Budget constraints are very common in research. Almost 90% of the projects I have worked on had some funding limitations. I find following helpful in addressing such concerns: - Be clear on study goals and methodology to achieve those goals. - Find cheaper or free alternatives for your experimentation - Run pilot experiments to be sure on what you are investing on or even if it is worth it to spend money and time on it - Networking and collaborations are super important in it

Prioritise the most impactful parts of your research. Ask yourself, what can I do that gets me the results that I can leverage the most. Then, shape your thoughts with your team- it's very important to get buy in or else there will be an ideas competition for the tight resources.

Leverage Existing Resources: Utilize available tools, data, and materials. Collaborate with institutions or organizations that may offer resources or support. 3. Seek In-Kind Contributions: Look for opportunities to secure services or materials through donations or partnerships with other organizations. 4. Optimize Personnel:Allocate tasks based on team members' strengths. 5. Cost-Effective Methods: Choose research methodologies that are cost-efficient and explore less expensive alternatives. 6. Apply for Grants:Seek out small grants or funding opportunities specific to your research field.

If you are looking for collaboration opportunities, you can do more work, and with some budget, you can produce superior-quality manuscripts. Have straightforward study questions and very defined hypotheses that will save you a lot of money and faster results.

In our college's budget, personnel drives costs because salary and wages also increase fringe and indirect costs. Being creative in staffing the project (personnel level, hours, rates, and durations) often provides the best way to create more "space" in the budget to run the research effectively.
