You can send test leads through Lead Gen Forms to ensure the data is captured and available in the Download Lead report. It's useful to test Lead Gen Forms when integrating them with your marketing automation or CRM provider to verify the integration process has been successful.
Note: You’ll need Viewer access or higher to send test leads in Campaign Manager. To download test leads, you’ll also need Page admin (super admin, content admin, curator, or analyst) or Lead Gen Forms Manager access on the LinkedIn Page associated with the ad account.
To send a test lead:
-
Sign in to Campaign Manager.
-
If you need to switch accounts, click the account name in the upper-left corner of the page and select the correct account name from the dropdown.
-
Click Assets on the left menu and select Lead Gen Forms.
-
Click the
More icon to the right of the Lead Gen form and click Send Test Lead from the pop-up. -
Fill in all the required fields (First name, last name, email address) and click Send.
Alternatively, you can send a test lead by accessing the preview of the ad creative that has the Lead Gen Form attached to it in Campaign Manager and submitting your information through the preview or by clicking the linked text in the Ad Name column from the Ads tab. Sending a test lead from the Ads tab will include additional metadata such as the ad_id and campaign_id when you download your leads.
To send a test lead from the Ads tab:
-
Click Advertise on the left menu of Campaign Manager.
-
Select the campaign group and campaign name where the ad creative is saved with the Lead Gen Form you want to access.
-
Hover over your selected ad under the Ad name column and click Manage.
-
Click the
More icon and select View to preview the ad in a pop-up modal. -
Click the call-to-action button in the preview to the test the Lead Gen Form.
-
Test the Lead Gen Form and click Submit.
You can view test leads submitted by downloading your leads and viewing the Test Lead column of the report. TRUE indicates a test lead; FALSE indicates a real lead.
-
If there are no real leads or test leads generated from a form, the Downloads leads option will be greyed out for that Lead Form and the leads number will be 0.
-
If you don’t have any real leads but you’ve successfully generated test leads, the leads number for the form will be listed as 0 but the Download leads option will be clickable for that form.
-
Sending a new test lead will overwrite your existing test lead.
