" Director: Fernando Meirelles His 8th movie My 4th movie watched from the director This movie seems to be all about the dialogue and acting. While those are the strongest aspects the production design, cinematography, and editing sneak in there and are all kind of great, making this pretty strong movie. While it's still no "City of God" I am happy to see Meirelles come out with a very entertaining movie. Added to Lists: Top Ten Performances - Jonathan Pryce Top Ten Performances - Anthony"

"First viewing - Aug. 18th Were it not for the critical acclaim this film has received I probably would've ignored it. And given that I thought it was totally worth seeing, I'm glad the praise led me to it. Hopkins and Pryce bring their A game to their respective roles, and watching these two men interact with and verbally spar with one another is a treat. I personally have no connection to Catholicism, and yet I found myself engrossed in every moment. My only issue with the film was in regard t"

“A hagiographic portrait of the current pope that plays like something off PBS’ Great Performances, The Two Popes mistakes unnecessarily, often incongruous, camera flourishes with visual interest. The best argument for this movie is watching Jonathan Pryce and Anthony Hopkins deliver incredibly strong work like the veterans they are. Aside from that, The Two Popes is an exercise in party line Catholicism. We bounce around in time from Jorge Bergoglio’s life in Argentina during the tumultuous 1970s to the present-day thorny relationship with Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI, and all of it wrapped up in a glowing “man of the people” aura. The main dramatic points involve the political scheming required to find a new pope, including Ratzinger’s glad-handing and retail politic” read more

"Oikein leppoisaa vanhojen ukkojen jutustelua. Elokuva on jotain tehnyt oikein, mikäli se saa katolisen kirkon vaikuttamaan sympaattiselta edes hetkeksi."

"1.Steven Zaillian- The IrishmanAgain, this is another category with no change from my previous list. While the fact that this is a complete overlap with BAFTA nominations (all five here scored there), they've got a better record for overlap than most (twice they've gone five for five in the past decade, and it's been a while), and these seem to have so much more momentum than the rest of the field. This is a category that produces some stunners every now and again (Borat, In the Loop, The Ballad"
“I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this movie since I have a weak spot for Fernando Meirelles’s work and since it was available on Netflix, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, I really liked the damned thing and it has been a while since Meirelles had released such an enjoyable movie. First of all, even though I’m not a religious man, I think that religion is a fascinating subject but I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of the Pope though. However, this movie gave not one but two fascinating portraits of two completely different Popes. Above all, the conversation these two characters had were just really spellbinding, also thanks to Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce who gave some of their best performances for this movie. Of course, at first, you would probably be r” read more

"Konu bize biraz yabancı gelse bile gayet güzel işlenmiş bir yapım. Alt metin olarak sunulan insan davranışları, sistem eleştirileri, günahlar, sevaplar ayrı güzellikte . Hiç bir şey olmasa bile büyük yönetmenin son filmi ve iki usta oyuncu için bile izlenebilir. Anthony Hopkins adeta yaşamış gibi oynamış ve Jonathan Pryce ağzım açık izledim oyununu."
