We're celebrating 200 years of achievement in research-driven learning, development and innovation with our prestigious Bicentenary PhD Studentships and Fellowships.
This new £28 million initiative represents a major investment from the University to recruit and fund more than 200 early career researchers between 2025/26 and 2026/27, in partnership with philanthropic support.
As a Bicentenary Postgraduate Researcher or Research Fellow, you’ll contribute to the ongoing success of our University and the next two centuries of research excellence.
Key themes
We particularly welcome approaches that foster interdisciplinary research (a priority within our strategic plan) and build on our strengths to address major challenges across key themes:

Become part of a diverse community of more than 1,000 humanities postgraduate researchers exploring their life’s passion.
Our Bicentenary PhD Studentships and Fellowships will support 12 PhD researchers and 27 early career postdoctoral research fellows across disciplines as diverse as business, arts, languages and cultures, environment, education and development, and social sciences.
