BARDO, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (2022)

Feeling the existential malaise that must have set in after winning back to back Best Director Oscars, director Alejandro González Iñárritu finally follows up The Revenant (2015) with BARDO, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (2022), turning his lens on a troubled filmmaker in this meta-textual film. On the verge of getting a high honor from American journalistic society, documentarian and journalist Silverio Gama (Daniel Giménez Cacho) begins to experience an existential crisis. In the midst of his latest film, he has increasingly turned the camera on himself, turning the film into a chronicle of his own mental breakdown. With as jam packed as this flick is with bizarre imagery, sadly we only get a brief butt baring scene from our protagonist Silverio, played by Daniel Giménez Cacho! It's a great ass and all, don't get us wrong, we just wish there was a view from the front as well!
