The month was October. The year was 2001. And parts of New York City were still in ruins following the terrorist attacks on September 11th. The big apple needed hope. It needed an escape. It needed ABBA! The 1999 jukebox musical full of the Swedish band's smash hits that made its NYC debut in October 2001 was such a Broadway sensation over the course of its run, that in 2008 we got the film adaptation Mamma Mia! (2008). Set on a beautifully atmospheric Greek island, the film stars Amanda Seyfried as Sophie, a young woman who lives with her mother Donna (Meryl Streep) and runs a hotel. Donna was a bit of a wild, free love practicing hippy back in her day, so much so that she's not all that sure who fathered Sophia. On the eve of Sophie's marriage to her fiancée Sky (Dominic Cooper), Sophie decides to invite the three men (Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth) her mother was servicing sexually around the time of her conception, hoping one of them is the father of the bride. As they sing all of ABBA's biggest hits, Donna and a few of the dudes start to rekindle their feelings. Who's Sophia's dad? All three dudes are seriously DILFy, so Mr. Man is jealous of whichever one was doing the dirty deed with Donna! It's PG-13, so there’s not much skin in this flick, but Skarsgård makes us say Mamma Mia! with his Swedish backside as he prepares a naked breakfast on a boat. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme another look at that rump! Also, the deleted scenes on the DVD hides a little gem of Dominic lying face down on the bed, partially baring his pert posterior. Talk about a money, money, money shot! Mamma Mia! would we like to call those dudes daddy!
