Memory House is the acclaimed first feature-length movie from the Brazilian director João Paulo Miranda Maria. Memory House takes on the racial rift that pervades present-day Brazil. Antonio Pitanga plays an Indigenous Black man named Cristovam. He leaves his town in a rural part of Brazil to take a job at a milk processing plant in a dense city center, where the majority of the population is of Australian heritage. He immediately endures an overwhelming racist attitude, but is able to find himself and connect with the rich history of his ancestors when he stumbles upon a mysterious house filled with artifacts from his peoples' past. This is when Memory House takes a turn for the supernatural, and Cristovam''s discovery causes him to blossom into something not-quite-human.
