Review

Gorgeous Gael García Bernal may steal your heart in the Mexican heist flick Museum (2018), not to be confused with the American movie franchise Night at the Museum (2006), Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009) and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014). Also known as Museo, this skinternational pic features dialogue in Spanish. However, it’s hard to read the subtitles since we don’t want to peel our eyes away from the movie’s leading man. Set in Mexico City during the mid-1980s, the story centers around veterinary students Juan Núñez (Bernal) and Benjamín Wilson (Leonardo Ortizgris). They devise a scheme to rob the National Museum of Anthropology, where precious Mayan, Mixtec, and Zapotec artifacts await their slippery fingers. But once the cute crooks successfully lift these items, they realize they’ve unleashed an ancient curse. Luckily, there’s no curse attached to this movie since writers Manuel Alcalá and Alonso Ruizpalacios (who also serves as the film’s director) received the Silver Bear Award for Best Screenplay at the Berlin International Film Festival. Of course, Mr. Man has a statuette in his pants for Mr. Bernal since the sexy señor is shirtless in several scenes. In one, he drinks on the beach while romancing a woman. In another, he touts his torso while holding an arrow. As you can guess, it’s pointing at our hearts. Or should we say hard-ons? If that’s not titillating enough, Gael also appears in his undies. Such an image should be hanging in a museum!
