The fascinating, if not harrowing, 2023 documentary The Contestant details the unbelievable true story of a Japanese man who was filmed while trapped in a room for fifteen months straight. The man, Tomoaki Hamatsu, also known as Nasubi, was an aspiring comedian who landed an audition in 1998 for a show that, it turns out, he knew very little about. He was made to strip fully naked and remain in a room where he filled out magazine sweepstakes in exchange for food and clothing. What he didn't know was that he was being broadcasted life for Japanese television audiences. Interestingly, The Contestant was released the same year as The Truman Show, if you can believe it. The documentary leaves us with a lot of feelings, including one between our legs! You did hear that Nasubi was nude, right? This Hulu series gives us plenty of looks at Nasubi's cute little tush. He may be The Contestant, but we won!
