MESSY

Messy is the breakthrough single of South London singer-songwriter Lola Young.
Taken from her second album This Wasn't Meant For You Anyway, the four-and-a-half-minute track showcases Lola's storytelling and gritty vocals.
Written by Conor Dickinson and Lola Young, and produced by Solomonophonic, manuka, Monsune and Carter Lang, the song captures the spirit of leaving an angry voicemail to her lover who will never be satisfied.
On 13 December 2024, Messy delivered Lola Young her debut chart appearance, earning a place on the Official Singles Chart Top 20 at Number 11. A week later on the 20 December, Messy climbed further still to become Lola's first UK Top 10 single, landing at Number 7 in Christmas Number 1 week and was earmarked by Official Charts as one to watch in 2025.
By 24 January 2025, Messy toppled Gracie Abrams' That's So True to finally land at Number 1 following an eleven-week climb, giving Lola Young her first chart topper.
