Founded by writer/producer/director Oscar Wenman-Hyde and Jade Wenman-Hyde. OJ Productions is a multi-award winning production company, a proud sponsor of Gloucester Independent Film Festival and the creators of Cycles, Love with Black Spots and Melodrive. After a string of audio drama and web projects, OJ Productions produced their first feature film, Cycles, in 2021. The film stars newcomers Henry Fisk and Henry Wilson as two brothers who have to face their past, their present and their future when the youngest arrives at his university dorm room. Upon worldwide release, the film received critical acclaim with independent critics and audiences alike and received festival nominations and wins internationally. Then, in 2022 the project was acquired by South West theatre company, The Scullions, who produced and staged a theatre adaptation of the film for a UK Tour in Spring 2023.
Following on from this, OJ Productions then produced a short film called, Love with Black Spots. The projects stars Saffron Walters, Oliver Harding and Bailey Dowler. The story revolves around couple who discover a ladybird infestation in their new house and must face the reality of their fading love. This project was distributed by Sofy.tv and was screened at Blackpool's Intermission International Film Festival in 2023, as well as receiving additional nominations elsewhere.
The success of their past projects led them to enter a co-production with Bristol based production company, M&M Film Productions on their next feature film, Melodrive, in the summer of 2023. The project was fully financed for production in Gloucester and North Devon in 2024 and the film stars household name, Michelle Collins, as well as Mark Arnold, Chrissie Wunna and some of the best emerging talent in the country. As the film is a music drama, the original soundtrack was composed by Oscar Wenman-Hyde and recorded at Bliss Studios in Bristol, UK. The project gained great traction and sold to The Movie Agency in 2024, as well as screening at Romford Film Festival and Gloucester Guildhall ahead of its worldwide release in 2025.
Between the large scale film productions, OJ Productions also produce the occasional fine art photography series (Chains of Comfort, Love Bites) and are continuously developing new ideas and concepts for new film productions. Oscar Wenman-Hyde is now represented by Imperial Artists Agency and since having a child, both Oscar & Jade remain driven to keep producing authentic stories that inspire conversation and change.
