I saw a really cute snowman on Etsy and decided to see if I could turn it into a project for Homeschool Pottery in December. So working from memory, I made this guy:Not cute. Kinda creepy. I tried again changing the proportions: Better, but still "eh...!" Later, I made another one with my students adding a "pickle nose" per Samuel's instructions. (From a favorite Snowman story book of Miss Judean's.) Getting cuter! (Both arms have already been glued back on twice. I'm thinking next year I'll…

Here are a few reasons why I love this third grade clay snowmen project: It is a simple clay project that can be made in one 40 minute class It is a great confidence builder and practice with slip and score (we say scratch and attach) It is a great project that reinforces molding and pinching clay This project doesn't require a lot of clay or underglazes and glaze Nice review of firing process Great starter project for review before a bigger clay project later in the year The kids LOVE them…

I have made these cute ceramic snowmen using white earthenware clay over which white, orange and black glazes have been applied. Each snowman's arms are made using real twigs I have collected whilst on my daily walks. The snowmen measure approximately 5cm high and around 2.5cm at the base. The width varies depending on the length of the twigs. These have been made with care over several days and fired twice in the ceramic kiln. My handmade ceramics are priced to reflect the amount of time spent Clay Winter Crafts, Pottery Snowman, Handbuilding Pottery, Clay Snowman, Ceramic Snowman, Clay Christmas Decorations, Ceramic Kiln, Ceramic Christmas Decorations, Cement Diy

5th graders created these fabulous snowmen! Day 1. 1. First students were given a large square piece of clay. They removed a little piece for the head and added details. Then wedged their large ball of clay. 2. They made their large piece into a pinch pot 3. Using the small piece of clay they removed another chunk for the head and rolled the clay into a ball. They then attached the head to the pinch pot being sure to scratch and score the surface. 4. I had the students poke a hole into the…
