Cranberry Hibiscus, aka False Roselle, is absolutely gorgeous. The leaves are edible, though a bit slimy, the flowers are edible, and the roselles are edible. The flowers are used to make a purple lemonade that's said to be delicious. Annual outside of zones 8+, can be grown as a lovely purple bush there, 4-6 feet tall. Prune well to keep it a dense bush.
